Meet the Artist...
Sue was born in Adamsville, Ohio and as a child she used to watch her grandfather hang wallpaper and paint walls for his clients. In time, she developed a similar interest in this type of work and om 1975 began working in the world of interior decorating and design.. As word got out, her business grew and during the late 70's and 80's. She went back to school 1996, she enrolled at Hartcore College and 2 years later received a degree in Interior Decorating and Design. She continued her business until she was diagnosed with malignant breast cancer in January 2003.
In June of 2010, she attended an art class at Primrose Retirement Community taught by Bob Grayson, who has rejuvenated Susan's love of art and she hasn't put down her paint and brushes since.. For her, it's all about color and subject matter. Her favorite media when painting is acrylics and paint mixed with sand. When she is painting a still life picture, she puts herself inside whatever she's painting. Whether it be a church, barn, house, Amish barn raising or school, in her mind she is totally engulfed in the subject matter, as if she is right there on the spot! She has had the opportunity to display her work at the Y-Bridge Art Festival, Gallery G, the Artisan Arts and Crafts Show in Columbus, and in Alliance, Ohio as well. You will notice that on most of her work she spells her name with the Native American version of Sue (Sioux). She does this because it's different and conversational. In addition, you will know it is Sue's work because next to her name will be a pink ribbon to celebrate being a breast cancer survivor and she gladly donate pieces of her work to worthwhile breast cancer causes to raise money for breast cancer research.
